Adding NPC’s can have the same effect but not as much of an impact. ETaC / JK’s / DoS town/city overhauls can be performance intensive so if you’re struggling from just updating the visuals, you should skip them. Regarding the mods below, I’ve only included below what I’ve found to work together.

I wouldn’t attempt to install every single mod unless you are sure of what you’re doing. Optional recommendations are mods that are cool but some might be complex to install and run without a problem. The essential recommendations should change Skyrim enough to make a difference while leaving your game stable. Starting from this section on, nothing is truly necessary.
